Youth killed over debt of mere Rs 200

Bathinda, November 8

A man, Harbans Singh, and his son Gurwinder Singh allegedly murdered a 24-year-old youth, Gobind Singh, by stabbing him with a sharp weapon at Gurusar village in the Bhagta Bhaika area of the district on Diwali.

The Dyalpura police have registered a case on the statement of Gobind’s brother. The kin of the deceased staged a protest on Thursday by keeping the body in the middle of the Bathinda-Bajakhana road. They demanded immediate arrest of the accused.

The deceased’s brother, Gurpreet Singh, told the police that his brother Gobind Singh (24) used to work as a labourer at grain markets. A few days back, Gobind had bought some vegetables worth Rs 200 from Harbans Singh on credit. Harbans had been demanding his money back since then. On Diwali, Harbans and his son Gurwinder Singh stabbed him with a sharp-edged weapon. — TNS
