Bonus for Mill Hands

LAHORE, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12, 1918

IT is pleasing to note that the proprietors of the Coimbatore Spinning and Weaving Mills have given a substantial bonus to their workmen and thus allowed them to participate in the sharing of the war profits with the shareholders. On the 28th September they held a fete at which the mill hands and their families were entertained with games, music, refreshments and cinema show and given a month’s wages as bonus for the year. The officers working in the mill were given from 6 weeks to 2 months’ salary as bonus. Besides this, the millowners have opened chief food and cloth stores for the benefit of their workmen at which every article of necessity is sold to them at less than bazar rates.
