Check crime, ensure cleanliness: ADG

Tribune News Service

Dehradun, March 20

ADG (law and order) Ram Singh Meena has said a special drive would be launched to check drug peddling, traffic violations and initiate a campaign for cleanliness. The drive would start tomorrow in all 13 districts of the state, he said while addressing mediapersons at a press conference here today.

He said the drive would be revived at the district and range level on weekly basis. The district police heads were instructed to start the cleanliness campaign at police stations, posts, police lines and residential areas of cops. Directions were issued to take effective steps to regulate traffic during the peak hours and reduce pendency of cases.

According to Meena, the police aimed at reducing the crime rate across the state. “Police officials have been asked to ensure the arrest of absconding and wanted criminals. The police will work strictly to keep under check the land, mining and liquor mafias. Action will be taken against those found guilty of violating traffic rules and regulations,” he added.
