Haridwar, March 20

The seers today felicitated newly-appointed Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat at Gokarn Dham.

The CM said it was a blessing for the state that a large number of saints reside in Haridwar and Rishikesh, who not only meditate but also actively remain concerned for the development of society, the state and the country. “Saints have always guided the country in every sphere, be it yoga, ayurveda or politics. The state government will ensure development in such a way that the seer community is involved. Saints should be given respect and recognition for their contribution in state’s welfare,” he said.

Rawat assured of carrying out development works for the Maha Kumbh. “The state government is committed to successfully host the mega fair during which crores of people throng Ganga ghats in Haridwarm,” he said. Spiritual guru Swami Swarup Puri Maharaj said the saints were concerned for society.

Ganga Sabha president Purushottam Gandhivadi said religious-spiritual tourism in the state had immense potential to generate employment to the local people.

City legislator and Cabinet minister Madan Kaushik said seers had always been active in spiritual-social development of the state.
