Family for CBI probe into Aanchal’s death

Dehradun, April 14

The family members and friends of 30-year-old Aanchal Kohli, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her husband’s residence on February 14 in Dehradun, have sought a CBI enquiry.

Addressing a press conference in Dehradun today, the victim’s parents, Anil and Anjum Kohli, and brother Agrim Kohli alleged Aanchal’s death was a cold-blooded murder and the entire probe must be handed over to the CBI.

Father Anil Kohli alleged he had little faith in the police or administration and did not expect that they would do justice to his daughter. “The home department has called for a CBI inquiry and I hope that the state government too will take cognizance of it and recommend the matter to the CBI,” Anil Kohli said. “I have written both to the Prime Minister’s office and also to the Uttarakhand Chief Minister for their intervention in the matter and setting up of a CBI inquiry,” he added.

He accused the police of trying to hush up the matter. “It has been two months since my daughter was murdered but the police are still to nab the culprit,” Anil Kohli said. He also appealed to the residents of Dehradun to come forward to help the family in their struggle for justice. A 30-minute film was also screened in which support from the general public was sought. The film was made by supporters of campaign – Justice for Aanchal. Close friends of the victim were also present at the conference.
