In a globalised scenario, we learn to face problems in real world

Aditya Thakur,Head Boy

Born in 2001, I belong to a category popularly referred to as the Generation Z. Like most in my age group, I inherit from my ancestors a fast-paced and a globalised world where an array of data is available at the click of a button.

It is against this backdrop that students at Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Sidhpur, are trained to express their thoughts, ideas, views and opinions through the creative use of their pen and are educated to face problems in the real world.

Since its inauguration in March 1970 by the then Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Dr YS Parmar, Sacred Heart has gone on to become the best institution in the town providing wholesome and quality education. It teaches us affection and love for all. The catholic outlook and the breadth of vision of the Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary (SCJM) ensure that our studies keep in step with extracurricular activities.

I am proud to be the student of an institution like Sacred Heart. What makes me even happier is the opportunity to serve my school as the Head Boy for the academic session 2018-19. I would like to extend my gratitude to our esteemed Manager Sister Mary Scaria, the Principal Sister Molly Cherian, Vice-Principal Sister Sonia Morris, my teachers, other members of the staff and the students of the school who reposed their trust in me and gave me an opportunity to play a little role in this institution’s service.

Since my blazer is adorned with the Head Boy’s badge, I have tried to build a strong character and to become a better version of myself in order to set a good example to all my juniors who look up to me. Just as Uncle Ben once told Spiderman that “with great Power comes great Responsibility”, I have tried (and would continue to do so) to perform my duties to the best of my ability. All this while, humility has been my strong point and hard work my weapon.

The team of talented individuals that I lead (known as the office-bearers) will, like our predecessors, strive for excellence and keep our school flag soaring ever higher.

I would also like to thank The Tribune for giving me this opportunity to express my views. I have been a regular reader of this reputed paper for many years now. I admire the quality of the editorials and opinion articles that one can enjoy for their excellence of language, wit and serious political and social messages. I do particularly admire the superb analysis and content in editorials. They make valuable reading for each and everyone.
